The trapizzino is the ultimate alternative to a sandwich. It’s pizza dough cooked in a square which is then cut on the diagonal, opened up and filled with various fillings. We tried the chicken alla caccitore, which was a beautiful melt-in-your mouth combination of tender chicken in a garlic and olive oil sauce. Other options available were meatballs with tomato sauce, braised oxtail, lamb offal and tripe.
You can also buy squares of pizza here, which are equally as tasty and topped with high quality ingredients. The blue cheese and pancetta pizza was especially good and far from the quality of the pizza places you find in the main areas of Rome.
